The farmers at New Roots have been hard at work getting the fields prepped and seeds planted at Juniper Gardens Training Farm. They would love your support this growing season!

This year has been particularly challenging for immigrants, refugees and new Americans – individuals who are supported by and participants of the New Roots program. The New Roots program provides an opportunity for farmers to build on their strengths and experiences while learning English, growing vegetables and earning an income. The best way to directly support New Roots farmers is by purchasing a Farm Share or donating towards a share. You can support our local food system while receiving a weekly share of fresh veggies for your meals at home – a win-win!

The New Roots Farm Share is a CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture) that provides its subscribers with 5-7 locally grown, seasonal vegetables and herbs each week of the harvest season. Shares can be picked up at locations around the greater Kansas City area. More details about our Farm Share and pickup locations are available on our website. This year, we are excited to start pickups at the farm – a great way to see where your veggies are grown!

Another way to support our New Roots farmers is to donate towards a Farm Share. When you donate towards a Farm Share, your money goes to purchasing vegetables from New Roots farmers to be delivered to Catholic Charities’ food pantries. A donation of $29 feeds a family for an entire week!
