And here it is, the Autumn Equinox, the first day of fall.
During an equinox, the sun crosses what`s known as the "celestial equator"- an imaginary extension of Earth`s equator line into space. The equinox occurs precisely when the sun`s center passes through this line.
The hours of daylight and darkness are roughly the same at this time of year, but from now until the winter solstice, we`ll have less daylight than darkness.
This comes at a time when there are still crops in the fields, but our minds turn towards the retreat of the colder seasons. Of the classroom, and planning desk.

Fall is in the air, and our Harvest Potluck is less than a month away!
It`s a chance for all of the farmers, volunteers, staff, and community meet on the farm to mark the closing of the growing season, recognize volunteers, and celebrating New Roots graduates. This year we`ll also be honoring the garden`s 15th anniversary as a training farm.
Put it on your calendar —October 17th from 4:30-6:30! It`s going to be a certified hoot.
