Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is getting ready to launch its annual Kids Summer Food Program and we need your help! We are currently seeking volunteers who can assist at our grab-and-go meal sites at multiple locations. Duties include setting-up and cleaning up meal areas, distributing food, tracking meal counts and speaking with participating children and families.
Every summer our volunteers are a tremendous help to this program! Last year, 38,326 meals and snacks were provided to hungry children across 27 metro and rural sites – thanks to our dedicated volunteers who graciously helped serve and distribute meals. As more families find themselves struggling with rising food costs, we’re striving to provide even more nutritious meals for children in need!
“Every year I’m amazed at how grateful those who receive food assistance are. We are a low-income community, and because of this program we are able to help families supplement their budget,” said Jeannette Stromgren, Library Director at the Osage City Public Library and Kids Summer Food program community partner. “We are thankful to be able to provide this service to families in need. Catholic Charities does a wonderful job of meeting the needs of our community – making sure this program is a success,” she added.
