Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is known for its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, but did you know that includes women facing unexpected pregnancies? Here are ways our Pregnancy Maintenance Initiative (PMI) program assists women in need.
Comprehensive Education: Our staff of trained professionals help women make informed decisions about their futures through empowered support, providing education on a range of topics, including prenatal care, parenting skills and the option of adoption.
Healthcare Advocacy: Access to quality healthcare during pregnancy is crucial for the well-being of both mother and child. PMI ensures that participants have access to prenatal care and nutritional guidance. Program staff are also health advocates for pregnant mothers, providing them with community referrals and help with connecting and applying to Medicaid, WIC, food stamps and/or Happy Bottoms.
Material Assistance: Financial constraints can be a major source of stress for pregnant women and new mothers. To combat this, PMI provides material assistance in the form of baby essentials, such as diapers, formula, clothing and more.
Emotional Support: Pregnancy can be an emotionally challenging time, especially for those facing it unexpectedly. PMI offers free and confidential individual pregnancy counseling that provides caring, non-judgmental support.
By empowering women to make informed choices and health decisions, PMI ensures that both mother and child can thrive during and after pregnancy!
