Earlier this month, Cami’s came into one of our Emergency Assistance Centers (EAC) to meet with a case manager about help in getting her water and electricity turned back on. She had recently experienced very difficult events. She lived with her boyfriend who was verbally and physically abusive.
Cami and her brother confronted her boyfriend and he quickly left the home leaving her with several past due utility bills. She shared with our case manager that she was at the point where she felt like she was caught in a downward spiral with no way out. Our case manager was able to reconnect Cami’s utilities; provide her family with much needed food; and, encouraged Cami to return to our EAC for our financial education classes and to review other resources that will help her get back on her feet. Cami shared, “Thank you for listening to me and treating me like a person. You have lightened my load and given me hope.”
