Joe was a victim of a crime that created many problems for him. He visited one of our local Emergency Assistance Centers (EAC) requesting assistance with a utility bill. With available funding, Catholic Charities was able to pay his bill. While our case manager was working with Joe on his financial assessment, he disclosed that he had a title loan.
Our case manager referred Joe to our Kansas Loan Pool Program and partnered with Catholic Charities’s Financial Stability and Education Coordinator. A plan was developed to help Joe with his 400% interest loan. Through our Kansas Loan Pool Program, he was approved for a 6% loan through an area bank. Joe was greatly appreciative to have a burden significantly lessened and the opportunity to improve his finances.
