Aaron’s Hope Story: Brightened Optimism

Hi, my name is Aaron and this is my hope story…

One afternoon I decided to meet with a case manager through the Kansas Loan Pool Program (KLPP). I’d had a stroke and was literally in the hospital four months and then in a rehabilitation facility three more. During this time, a trusted family member who had power of attorney squandered all of my finances.

When I had recovered sufficiently to again take control of my life, I discovered my savings wiped out, along with unpaid mortgage payments, and no utilities. I had little alternative and took out payday and title loans to survive and then just took it one day at a time, trusting that God would take care of me. While I was in this situation I did not want to express anymore negativity. My Catholic Charities’ case manager even said that I was one of the most joyful people she had ever met. I praise God for leading me to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas and to the Kansas Loan Pool Program. This month they replaced my 2 payday loans and 1 title loan with a manageable 6% loan. The future feels bright.
