This summer Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas welcomed 10 interns thanks to the Catholic Summer Internship Kansas City (CSI KC) program. CSI KC provides internship opportunities to Catholic college students interested in serving those in need, placing them at nonprofit organizations throughout the metro.

Before beginning their duties, our interns participated in a bus tour to acquaint them with Catholic Charities’ mission and vast scope of ministries. Throughout their internships, which began in late May and concluded on July 26, these dedicated interns contributed to our Refugee & Immigration Services, New Roots, Pregnancy Support Services, Adoption and Kids Summer Food programs. From heading Kids Summer Food lunch sites, to working World Refugee Day and helping develop new curriculum for the Learning Center, interns have provided faithful leadership and played a large role in their program’s future growth and success.

As the summer draws to a close, we would like to thank these interns for their exceptional work and dedication to our mission. “Interns, like our volunteers, make a huge impact. We were very appreciative to get connected with talented individuals whose service will have a lasting effect,” said Kristen Pettibon, Community Engagement Specialist.
