Hi, my name is Wendy and this is my hope story…
When I first sought out Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas I was escaping domestic violence from my husband of four years.
Eventually my husband left and took all of my family’s assets. I was facing homelessness and disconnected utility services. I was also without food. Because of the abuse that was happening within my home, I had no access to money.
I found myself at one of the Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas Emergency Assistance Centers. My Catholic Charities’ case manager provided ongoing case management to help me with housing stability and so much more. I was able to keep my housing with the help of Catholic Charities and my utility services with the help of their partner agency, Salvation Army. Catholic Charities provided me with food and referrals.
My case manager is helping me create a life plan with financial goals and is working with me on employment services. I now have hope and know that I can live safely on my own.
