Did you know that Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas began offering the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program last year in Leavenworth? Due to the positive community response, the program expanded to Lawrence and Atchison this year. The VITA program is available to those who make $54,000 or less or persons with disabilities who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. During this year’s tax season, a combined total of 242 returns were filed, generating refunds totaling $194,452. Thank you to all our VITA volunteers who helped neighbors in need with their tax returns this year!
