Food Equality Initiative, a nonprofit focused on nutrition security and health equity, will be conducting a community listening session for those we serve in the Overland Park area to gain increased understanding about challenges and desires around accessing nourishing food, particularly fresh produce.

Food Equality Initiative’s research focuses on reducing health disparities and increasing access to nutritious food for all populations. This topic is close to our hearts at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, as we help meet the immediate basic survival needs of families with low incomes, offering food at our eight food pantries across the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The upcoming listening session will be hosted at our administrative office, and our team will be sharing insights from the session in an upcoming Hope Notes!

“My hope is to partner closely with other organizations working to reduce food insecurity in our area, particularly in ways that meet our neighbors’ diverse dietary and health needs,” shared Nelson Vowels, Senior Director of Mission Operations.
