This summer, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas invites students and families to participate in a summer service project at Hope Distribution Center (HDC) food warehouse. This opportunity is perfect for students seeking service hours for school and Confirmation, however any individual interested in serving with us is welcome to sign up!
“We are grateful for the volunteers who have helped us so far, sorting and organizing food from local parish and community food drives,” said Annette Bentzinger, Parish, School and Community Outreach Coordinator at Catholic Charities. “Our volunteers gain a greater understanding of food insecurity, which in turn fosters empathy, compassion and awareness. Participating in a service project like this helps students understand the work that we do and develop valuable life skills,” she added.
The HDC summer service project runs until July 30, with multiple time slots available between 9am-3pm. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to serve without an adult. For more information please email Annette at [email protected] or sign-up for a volunteer date here.
