Grant is part of more than $73 million given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to public safety organizations across the U.S.
OVERLAND PARK, KS – Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation recently awarded an $18,265 grant to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas (CCNEK) to purchase 13 automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The new equipment will enable staff, clients, volunteers and others to be better prepared in cardiac emergency situations at any of CCNEK’s 13 locations across the region, including TurnStyles Thrift stores.
“We are so grateful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Shawnee for awarding our agency the necessary resources to continue to keep so many communities in Northeast Kansas safe and protected,” said Lauren Solidum, CCNEK’s President and CEO. “This is an extension of our mission to support life everywhere, at all times, and at all stages.”
Robin Heath, franchisee of the Firehouse Subs–in Shawnee, supported CCNEK’s application for the life–saving equipment. “I am so excited to see these devices go out into the community. This could be the second chance for any of us,” she added. “The fact that Catholic Charities is now prepared for cardiac emergencies is wonderful!”
The awarded grant will be used to purchase 13 AEDs and accessories to prepare for cardiac emergencies that may occur at or near any of CCNEK’s locations throughout the Kansas-side metro area as well as in Lawrence, Topeka, Leavenworth, and Atchison.
