Jessica’s Hope Story: I’m Not Alone

A young mother, Jessica, met with one of our case managers, Gabe, for rent assistance. During their conversation, Jessica shared she was a victim of domestic violence and going through a divorce.

Jessica mentioned she was pregnant with her third child and she was looking at adoption agencies. Gabe first talked with Jessica about her pregnancy and Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas’ Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption services. Gabe connected Jessica with Heather Roberts, our Pregancy Counseling Lead.

Gabe also introduced Jessica to a partner agency that specializes in helping individuals experiencing domestic violence. She completed the agency’s application and received assistance with moving to a safer home. She has also began counseling through the local guidance center. Jessica shared, “After meeting with Gabe, I know people care. I know I’m not alone. I feel hope for me and my kids.”
