The weather this time of year calls for cozy coats and warm holiday meals—comforts not all families can afford. Thanks to the incredible generosity of organizations like the Kansas State Council Knights of Columbus, Creative Planning, local parishes and other community partners, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas’ holiday drives have brightened the Christmas season for hundreds of individuals and families in need.
This year, 1,211 children now have warm winter coats and 3,600 families were able to gather around a Thanksgiving table filled with turkeys and other holiday trimmings. “Our holiday drives allow us to make a big impact,” shared Camille Pickhinke, Director of Community Engagement. “During this season, those in need may feel forgotten, but through the generosity of our community, we can help the most vulnerable.”
Holiday drive donations address more than immediate needs—they bring joy and connection. “You guys are blessing us,” shared one mother during a coat drive.
We are grateful to all who donated and volunteered to make this year’s drives a huge success! Thank you for helping us make this holiday season memorable for so many.
