Herman’s Hope Story: A Vet’s New Home

Herman's Hope Story

Herman came to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas in need of rental assistance. Herman is an elderly, disabled veteran who had been homeless and transient for several months. With his disability he was only receiving a small monthly check that could not accommodate much more than food.

We were able to help Herman with his application fees as well as his deposit for an efficiency apartment. Then we took him through our pantry and gave him food to take to his new home. Herman was extremely grateful and choked back tears to tell us that he felt we had lifted him up off a very lonely road and walked him home.
