Francesa’s Hope Story: From Stressed to Blessed

Community Health Services Hope Story
Community Health Services helping Francesa

Francesa’s son, Mateo fell at school and hurt his head severe enough that she was advised to take to him the ER. Mateo did not have insurance because he was not yet eligible for Medicaid because of his immigration status. Francesa had received a $1,500 hospital bill. She was worried that she couldn’t pay it all with her minimum wage job.

Our Community Health Services lead helped her fill out a financial relief application for the hospital bill. She qualified for an 80% discount on the bill and our case manager helped set up payment arrangements for the remaining balance. He also gave Francesa medical resources for her family’s future medical needs. Francesa shared, “We feel so blessed to have Catholic Charities helping us through our medical crisis.”
