Thanks to everyone who voted daily for Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas during First National Bank’s 2017 Community First Award competition. We’re excited to share that we were the runner up for the Kansas region, receiving a cash donation of $2,500. The funds will assist us in providing fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy through meal programs for children. This summer alone, meals were provided to over 15,000 children and adults at 32 meal sites. The gift will also help us give food through our mobile food distributions as well as our eight food pantries which serve 77,000 adults, children and seniors throughout 21 counties.
This is the second year that First National Bank has presented the Community First Awards, which recognize and celebrate nonprofit organizations who contribute to the success of communities across the bank’s service area. “In order for a community to stay strong and continue to grow, all members must work together for the greater good,” said Alec Gorynski, Vice President, Corporate Philanthropy and Social Responsibility. “The Community First Awards celebrate the countless nonprofit organizations who work hard every day to help make our communities successful. At the same time, it is our hope to bring awareness to the needs that exist within the community and inspire others to give back.”
