One of our Emergency Assistance Center Managers met with a single mother, DeLise, and her young daughter, Keysha. They had been living in an area shelter. Keysha’s father was recently released from prison. DeLise and Keysha were fleeing him because of his murder attempts on them prior to his prison sentence. Fortunately, DeLise felt safe in the shelter that was in a town far away from the prison.
DeLise had recently been approved for housing of her own but she needed help with an old utility bill before she could moved in. During her conversation with our manager, DeLise mentioned that she was having trouble keeping her car running. Not only was Catholic Charities able to pay off DeLise’s utility bill but a local mechanic agreed to work with Catholic Charities to repair her car. DeLise is now living independently and can plan her future with Keysha. We love partnering with area businesses to help neighbors in need. Thank you! #hopestory
