Cathy is a part of our Rapid Rehousing for Homeless Families (RRHD) and our Kansas Loan Pool Project (KLPP) programs with Catholic Charities has gone from a situation where she was drowning in pay day loans and several other kinds of debt to making huge strides in budgeting and savings. She came into one of our local Emergency Assistance Centers (EAC) in imminent danger of losing her housing and was subsequently housed using RRHD.
A few months later, Cathy was approved for our KLPP program and as of a few weeks ago, Cathy has a full time contract job making over $900 per week. She has followed a close budget and has paid down her near $19,000 in debt to approximately $12,500 and has a plan to finish paying her KLPP bank loan early and within 6 months. She is working with her prior landlord whom she owes $9,000 on a monthly payment plan to keep the debt off her credit report.
Cathy is making wise financial decisions and utilizing our KLPP and RRHD programs as they were intended. She is working extremely hard to make progress financially and professionally, all while raising her teenage granddaughter and recovering from cancer.
