Beginning July 1st, Catholic Community Hospice (CCH) will be part of the newly created Northeast Kansas Catholic Health Services (NEKCHS). Hospice has been a longstanding ministry of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
“We’ve been honored to be a part of the end-of-life spiritual, mental and physical care of thousands of patients over the years,” said Kevin Bentley, Chief Operating Officer. “However, the opportunities that await with the new healthcare entity will be great. So, it’s a bitter-sweet moment. Not one where a ‘farewell’ fits, but perhaps ‘bon voyage’ seems more appropriate.”
Though CCH will be incorporated as an individual entity, it will join Villa St. Francis (VSF) under common leadership. That leadership will in turn be governed by a new board of directors, made up of the current VSF board members and a new corporate member, yet to be determined, that will oversee NEKCHS (collectively, VSF, CCH, In-Home Support and Santa Marta).
The new offices for CCH will be at 95th and I-435. This strategic location will allow for maximum coverage of the Archdiocese as the license restricts the service area based upon office location.
