Catholic Schools Week is a yearly celebration of the value and importance of Catholic education in the United States. In Northeast Kansas, local Catholic schools have not only excelled in providing quality education but have also made significant contributions to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas!

Last month during Catholic Schools Week 2024, students and staff across the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas participated in service projects, fundraisers, and outreach events, including School Serve Experiences, greatly benefiting the lives of those in need who visit our locations for support and guidance.

“Increased knowledge and understanding about the 30+ programs of Catholic Charities motivates students and families to support our neighbors in need, creating a sense of compassion and involvement. There are so many good people that want to help. We can all be the hands and feet of Jesus,” said Annette Bentzinger, Parish, School and Community Outreach Coordinator.

One example shared by Bentzinger was a service project organized by St. Patrick Catholic School in Kansas City, KS.

“During Catholic Schools Week, the school helped serve the hungry by collecting 665 boxes of macaroni and cheese – resulting in the ability to feed over 1,500 people! The school and staff were committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities that are served by Catholic Charities,” she offered.
