REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY FOR 2012 – HIGHLIGHTS

Leadership Giving

Our Leadership Giving Families have continued to grow and welcome new members. First Fruits, Table of Plenty and Salt of the Earth – a Legacy Family including charitable gift annuity opportunities, provide financial support to enable Catholic Charities to respond more quickly and compassionately to our neighbors in need.

Committee of Young Patrons

The Committee of Young Patrons is a group of 20 to 40 somethings supporting the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas by striving to impact the lives of those in need. This year they took on a new awareness project called “Street Views: Finding Hope in Homelessness”, a photo exhibit of hope taken by the men of Shalom House, Catholic Charities’ homeless shelter.

Special Events

The community’s generosity shined at the 38th Annual Snow Ball, as patrons and guests came together to raise more than
$1.6 million for Catholic Charities Foundation of Northeast Kansas Emergency Assistance Programs on Saturday, January 14, 2012. The Ben and Betty Zarda Family Golf Classic celebrated it’s 31st Anniversary while raising funds to support renovations at Shalom House, Wyandotte County’s only homeless men’s shelter, which provides a warm meal, safe place to shower and sleep, case management and more to 25 men daily.

Social Media

Our social media network continued to be an immediate, cost effective, and up-to-date method of communicating. Reach has increased on social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. This year we have added Google+ to our social media family. Follow us and stay connected!
