Hope Hero Shoutout
A special thanks to the volunteers who answered our call to help those in the Douglas County area hit by last month’s devastating tornado. Nearly 20 volunteers contributed over 50 hours of service removing debris, cutting down trees and much more. Others pitched in by providing equipment to help with the storm’s aftermath. In addition to their time and resources, they provided homeowners with a much needed sense of relief.
Although Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is not an initial disaster responder, we reached out to the local Red Cross and Salvation Army to offer assistance. Douglas County Emergency Management contacted Catholic Charities directly for volunteer support.
The volunteers headed to Douglas County to assist neighbors in need. Their presence made quite an impact on those affected by the storm. “We so appreciate your help, and we also appreciate your prayers for our family during this time,” said one of the homeowners.
Added another, “It has been a blessing to see Christ’s church in action ministering to our needs! Bless you!”
