After temporarily closing all three of our TurnStyles Thrift stores in March as a precaution due to COVID-19, we’re happy to announce that our 87th and Farley location in Overland Park is now open!
On May 11th, TurnStyles’ staff happily welcomed back shoppers and donors thanks to the support of volunteers, team members from our other two stores, as well as Catholic Charities’ staff from our other ministries who jumped in to help. “It has truly been a very humbling experience to be able to work alongside everybody and know that we are there as one entity putting love into action,” says Anthony Avis, store manager.
The store has taken a number of steps for the safety of shoppers, volunteers and donations. Those precautions include limiting the number of shoppers in the store at one time to forty; placing social distancing reminders throughout the store; sanitizing all shopping carts after each guest; cleaning the check-out counter between each transaction; and requiring all staff and volunteers to wear gloves and a face mask at all times.
The donation process has become contactless. Donors are directed to place their donations directly into marked bins. Items are quarantined for 72 hours before processing in compliance with current CDC guidelines. Only clothing, housewares and electronics are being accepted at this time. TurnStyles is not accepting furniture donations due to limited space.

In addition to the new safety measures, TurnStyles has new shopping and donation hours! You can shop Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-7:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Donations hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM.
TurnStyles Thrift is a volunteer-driven ministry. It takes many volunteers to keep the store running. If you are available to help with activities such as sorting and hanging clothing, testing electronics, and organizing the sales floor, please sign-up at:
