Team player: Catholic Charities has a solid and committed base of donors, volunteers and board members. Without them, our jobs would be manifestly more difficult. Our staff members not only have the skills and experience required to do their jobs, but each of them is a good fit with our mission, serving with compassion and the love of Jesus Christ.
Mentor: CEO Ken Williams joined Catholic Charities with extensive corporate and nonprofit executive experience. He is an extremely valuable mentor and has taught me a great deal.
What led you toward a career in nonprofit management? A quote from the Life of St. Anthony of Padua: “He feared he was wasting his life; he felt that his energy and enthusiasm should be placed at the disposal of those who were in crying need; and surely there were many such.” By God’s grace, this quote prompted me to leave my career in public accounting for a career serving in one of the social arms of the Catholic Church.
Little-known fact: I enjoy homebrewing craft beer, especially the challenge to find that great recipe and then to be able to repeat the results. One of my personal favorites is my pale ale with my homegrown hops.
Passion: My passion is the practice and study of the Catholic faith. I particularly enjoy reading the lives of the saints of the early United States, i.e., St. Philippine Duchesne, Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, Bishop John Baptiste Miege, Father Pierre-Jean De Smet and Father John Bannon.
