“Love cannot remain by itself—it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.” -St. Teresa of Calcutta
Pauline serves as a volunteer at our Leavenworth Family Support Center, and puts love into action every day. In May she received the Spirit of Humanitarianism awarded by the Leavenworth County Human Service Council. Pauline said, “I was overwhelmed, the way I look at it, it was not me, it was everyone in our group. I couldn’t have won the award without the other volunteers.”
Pauline wanted a way to give back to her community, and has become a committed volunteer at our Family Support Center. She is the Food Pantry manager and is always making sure that things get done. Even during the most unforeseen circumstances that came with COVID, Pauline continued to feed those in need in our community.
Jackie Masoner, Manager at the Leavenworth Family Support Center, said, “I was truly blessed when Pauline came to volunteer at our Family Support Center. I never have to worry about issues in the food pantry, if there is a problem Pauline just handles it, I know I can always rely on her judgement.”
Pauline continues to help Catholic Charities make a difference every day by serving our neighbors in need and putting love into action. She encourages people to volunteer, adding, “It is very fulfilling. I feel really good every day when I leave, I know I have touched someone.”
