Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas serves Brown County

Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas Mobile Resource Bus visits Brown County several times throughout the year.

They offer a variety of resources and support – including community referrals, emergency financial assistance (rent & utility) – by appointment only, food (including bread and cold/fresh items – depending on the season), diapers, socks and underwear, and seasonal clothing.

The Mobile Resource Bus will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 800 Hiawatha Ave., in Hiawatha, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on April 3 and May 22.

For direct financial assistance, an appointment is required plus verification of income; SSI/SSD printout or bank statement showing deposit; SRS printout, and Social Security award letter. For rent assistance, proof of income for the last 30 days; three days’ notice to pay or quit; eviction notice or late notice; copy of lease; driver’s license or state identification card, and social security card. For utility assistance, a past-due bill with shut-off/disconnection notice is required, plus proof of income; driver’s license or State identification card, and social security card.
