During the month of August the Church celebrates the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (August 6), this stunning event where the apostles Peter, James and John briefly witnessed Jesus’ glory and power (Mt 17:1-8, Mk 9:2-8, or Lk 9:28-36). Yet, Jesus chooses not to remain with Elijah and Moses, rather he returns to remain with the apostles and people who are in need of spiritual, physical healing and His accompaniment. Each of us are called to be transfigured and become more Christ-like to accompany those that God places before us.
