Sewing/Knitting Teacher and Aid

Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas offers psychosocial programs for refugees needing social interactions in a group setting. Volunteers are needed to help teach sewing and knitting classes at the Family Support Center in Olathe. Groups are held once a week and consist of about 10 clients. A staff member will be present along with a classroom aid.

Duties and Qualifications

  • Provide basic sewing and knitting instruction to clients in a small group setting.
  • Passion for teaching others
  • Ability to exercise patience and compassion while encountering cultural differences.
  • No lifting

Sewing/Knitting Aid

Duties and Qualifications

    • Assist in providing basic sewing and knitting instruction to clients in a small group setting.
    • Assist picking up clients and driving them to class and assisting with classroom instruction.
    • Passion for teaching others
    • Ability to exercise patience and compassion while encountering cultural differences.
    • No lifting
Time Commitment:
2 Hours per week for 8 weeks
