Help us combat childhood hunger!

Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is helping provide summer meals to children at 21 local and rural sites across Northeast Kansas. This sign-up is for volunteers who would like to help with our Summer Food Program at two library locations offering breakfast and lunch service.

Breakfast Site: Merriam Plaza Library (Community Room) 6120 Slater St, Merriam, KS 66202 Open May 27 through August 7 (closed June 19 and July 3) Breakfast is served on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. 2026 Summer Food Program – Merriam Plaza Library

Lunch Site: Johnson County Central Resource Library (Carmack Room) 9875 W. 87th St, Overland Park, KS 66212 Open May 26 through August 7 (closed June 19 and July 3) Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. 2026 Summer Food Program – Central Resource Library

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Set up and clean up meal areas
• Distribute meals to children
• Track meal counts
• Participate in activities with kids to encourage attendance
• Inform library patrons about the Summer Food Program and invite them to join

This is a wonderful family volunteer opportunity. To ensure an adequate adult-to-child ratio, each person, adult and child, must sign up individually.
