Professional Development Mentor- Virtual or In-Person

Program Description

The St. Rita Program helps participants pursuing healthcare certifications transition into meaningful employment through mentorship, career coaching, and professional readiness. Professional Development Mentors provide one-on-one or small-group guidance focused on building confidence and skills needed to successfully enter the workforce.

Volunteers may help students strengthen their resumes, practice interview skills, and understand workplace expectations in healthcare environments. Mentors serve as role models and career coaches, encouraging students to take the next step toward long-term success and independence.

This role is ideal for professionals with experience in human resources, management, or career development who want to share their knowledge and help students achieve career stability.

 

Duties and Qualifications

Duties:

  • Provide coaching on resume writing, interviewing, and professional communication.
  • Conduct mock interviews and offer constructive feedback.
  • Support students in identifying transferable skills and setting career goals.
  • Help participants understand workplace culture and expectations.
  • Communicate progress or student needs to the St. Rita Program staff as appropriate.
  • Attend required volunteer orientation and training sessions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Background in human resources, management, education, or workforce development preferred.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to motivate and empower adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Comfortable conducting virtual sessions (Zoom) or meeting in person.
  • Willingness to complete orientation and adhere to CCNEK volunteer policies.

 

Training and Support:

  • Agency orientation provided prior to mentoring.
  • Curriculum resources and templates available for mentors.
  • Ongoing support and guidance from Workforce Development staff.
Time Commitment:
1-2 hours per week
