Volunteer with Shalom House Workforce Program

Shalom House Hope Story
GED Prep Volunteer – Virtual or In-Person at Shalom House

Program Overview

Shalom House provides stability, community, and support for men experiencing homelessness as they work toward employment and long-term independence. The Workforce Program helps residents build the skills they need for brighter futures.

As a GED Prep Volunteer, you will support residents who are preparing for their GED exams. This volunteer opportunity focuses on helping participants understand concepts, strengthen study habits, and build confidence. Sessions are student-driven, with residents bringing their own materials and working at their own pace.

This is a meaningful way to walk alongside individuals who are working to change their lives through education. Volunteers do not need teaching experience, only patience, encouragement, and a desire to help someone succeed.
