Professional Development Workshop Instructor

Program Description:

The Workforce Program at Shalom House helps residents build practical and professional skills needed to secure stable employment. As a Professional Development Workshop Volunteer, you will lead sessions that prepare participants for the workforce by guiding them through resume building, interview practice, job searching, and workplace expectations.

Your leadership provides the confidence and tools residents need to take their next steps toward independence. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in human resources, recruiting, or professional coaching who want to share their expertise in a meaningful and practical way.

 

Duties and Qualifications

Duties:

  • Lead workshops on resume writing, interviewing, and job readiness.
  • Conduct mock interviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support residents in identifying strengths and professional goals.
  • Teach workplace expectations and communication basics.
  • Coordinate with Workforce staff on scheduling and workshop goals.
  • Attend required volunteer orientation and training sessions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Background in human resources, recruiting, management, or training preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage adult learners.
  • Comfortable meeting in-person or leading virtual sessions.
  • Willingness to complete orientation and follow CCNEK volunteer guidelines.

 

Training and Support:

  • Orientation prior to workshop facilitation.
  • Sample resumes, templates, and guidance provided by staff.
  • Ongoing support from Workforce Development leadership.
Time Commitment:
1-2 per week
