The Mistake that Wasn’t a Mistake—Family Support Center Hope Story

A story of hope from our Leavenworth Family Support Center staff

Today we did deliveries of CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) and food pantry boxes to our elderly clients who cannot come in to pick them up themselves. These boxes are delivered by members of the Leavenworth Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus. One box was accidentally delivered to the wrong address. The recipient called asking where their box was, as they had not received the food today. A volunteer returned to the office and another CSFP and food pantry box was loaded up for delivery and sent out.

Later, I received a phone call from a person who was crying. She had received the food by accident and was calling to let me know where she lived if we needed to come and pick this back up. She explained that she was currently, horribly sick at home with COVID and unable to go to the store herself. I told her she could keep the food. She started crying harder. She told me that she was in desperate need of the food and this gave her exactly what she needed, she had been needing food for a couple of days and had been praying about this problem, when out of the blue it was delivered to her door. She told me it was like “God knew what I needed and sent the angels to answer my prayers”.

Everyone in our office was just really grateful that we were able to be a part of this day!
