Give Hope to Neighbors in Need
This Christmas, we lift up our hearts with gratitude for you.
This last fiscal year, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas served more than 74,000 of the most vulnerable children, women and men in our communities by offering help, hope and hospitality through one or more of our 25+ programs. The generosity of donors like you allows us to continue our mission of providing help, hope and hospitality.
We couldn’t do this without you.
Ben & Sarah's Hope Story
Ben and Sarah, a young couple with a four-year-old daughter, found them-selves living in their car for nearly two months after losing their home. They had been sharing rent and expenses with a roommate, but the roommate unexpectedly moved, and Ben and Sarah could no longer afford the apartment on their own. The family was evicted, and with nowhere else to go, their car became their shelter.Despite being unhoused, Ben continued working. While caring for their daughter, Sarah found a way to contribute through food delivery. Their determination to provide for each other never wavered.
When they connected with Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, hope began to return. A case manager encouraged them to apply for government assistance programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),
Medicaid and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. They were also enrolled into the Rapid Rehousing Program.
Through these stabilization services, the family was able to move into a new home. When Ben, Sarah and their four-year-old girl turned the keys and opened the door to a two-bedroom apartment of their own, Sarah, shared through tears how grateful she was to finally take a shower before her prenatal doctor’s appointment the next day. Their little girl was also overjoyed to have her very own bedroom for the first time.
After months of uncertainty, this family now has a safe place to call home. They are excited to welcome their new baby and continue building a new future, one filled with hope.

Prince of Peace Catholic Church began as a “daughter parish” of St. Paul Catholic Church, which was established in 1864. Archbishop Ignatius Strecker initiated the formation of a second Catholic parish in Olathe in the fall of 1979 to accommodate the rapid growth in the area, becoming what is known today as Prince of Peace.
Father Charles Andalikiewicz served as its first pastor, and initial Masses were held in local schools while land was purchased for a permanent site. Groundbreaking took place in 1984, and the church officially opened its doors on Christmas Eve 1986. The Mass of Dedication followed in February 1987.
Over the years, the parish has expanded its facilities and ministries, growing into one of the largest parishes in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.
