While we deeply appreciate your generosity and are thrilled that the state offers these tax credits, we are committed to assisting you in submitting your application to the state. We will begin the process once we have received a fully completed application along with a tax-eligible gift that meets the state’s requirements. Should any issues arise with your donation, we will promptly reach out to you to ensure a swift resolution.

FAQs

A tax credit is a sum subtracted from the total amount a taxpayer owes to the state. Unlike deductions and exemptions that reduce taxable income, credits directly reduce taxes owed. The value of the credits is subtracted from the total amount of owed taxes. Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas currently has Pregnancy Tax Credits for up to 70% of your gift restricted to our pregnancy support services.

70% of your donation can be applied toward the amount you owe in Kansas State income tax.

Example: If you owe $1,000 in Kansas State taxes and donate $1,000, you can reduce your tax bill by $700.

Submit your restricted donation along with a fully completed Form K-96 to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas (CCNEK). Once we receive your donation, CCNEK will promptly submit all necessary documentation to the Kansas Department of Revenue. Upon approval, we will provide you with an Official Tax Credit Certificate and Schedule K-94, both of which are required when filing your taxes.

Gifts must be made and submitted by December 31, 2025. CCNEK must submit them within 30 days of the gift date.

It typically takes between 30 to 60 days from the date your gift is made to receive the certificate of approval. Once processed, Catholic Charities will provide the certificate for you to include with your tax filings.

You do not have to itemize your deductions to use this tax credit. It’s a deduction of what you owe back to the State.

You can carry forward unused credits for up to 5 consecutive tax years.

The State of Kansas has allocated a total of $10 million for all tax-credit-eligible donations in this program.
