Meet the Farmers
Empowering English Language Learners
New Roots welcomes new farmers each year to cultivate quarter acre plots on Juniper Garden’s Training Farm. After completing a four year farmer-in-training program, Cultivate KC and Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas staff help farmers connect with land and farming equipment to continue growing independently as they grow their businesses.
Trainee Farmers
Graduate Farmers
After four years of growing at Juniper Gardens, New Roots helps families transition onto land where farmers can start their own independent farms. 2018 marked the 10 year anniversary of New Roots, with 21 graduates still farming in the KC metro area. Since 2020, some graduate farmers have participated in New Root’s Farm Share program by growing spring green vegetables in their high tunnels. Graduates will additionally provide specialty add-on items to our Farm Store, such as Asian pears and sour cherries.
