Snow Ball 2023 Feature Film - A Focus on Shalom House Men's Transitional Living Program

Zipporah was born in Kenya. The oldest of five children, she has always been the caretaker for her family. At 22 years old, she came to America to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse – and provide much needed financial support to those she left behind. To help with expenses while attending classes, she began working with Catholic Charities as a Swahili translator. There, she experienced a life-changing moment when she was introduced to the St. Rita program. Hear about Zipporah's story and how the St. Rita program impacted her.

When a woman approached Theresa, Event Coordinator, in the Catholic Charities parking lot and asked for a jump, Theresa was happy to help. After learning the woman was homeless and living in her car, she knew she needed to do something. She made her aware of the services available. With Theresa’s encouragement, the woman contacted the Overland Park Family Support Center to get some much needed assistance.

It provided her with more than just job experience, it gave her hope.
