Volunteer with ReConnect

Mentor

The focus of the ReConnect program is for refugee youth ages 15-24 to gain work and school experience through mentorship.

Mentors are matched with a Mentee with the help of Catholic Charities program staff. Mentors will be assigned 1-2 Mentees to work with for 1 year.

Mentors meet with Mentees in person once a month and check-in weekly via text or email. The ideal Mentor will be compassionate and culturally sensitive to those whose first language is not English.

Duties & Qualifications:

  • Schedule monthly in person check-ins to meet with Mentee. This can be done at the convenience of both the mentor and mentee.
  • Check-in Mentee weekly via texting or email. These methods are easier to Mentees to use for communication due to busy school/work schedules and trying to overcome any possible language barriers.
  • Mentor must have significant work and college experience.
  • Must attend bi-monthly events with other Mentees and Mentors.
  • Mentors must have a clear background check from the past 3 years on file.
