Volunteer with New Roots

Farm Share Driver

The New Roots program works with refugee farmers to develop small farm businesses by providing hands-on support and education in the field, at farmers’ markets, and during English classes and skill-focused workshops.

Duties:

  • Pack produce into a company vehicle at Juniper Gardens
  • Drive to a Farm Share location and unload produce
  • Store totes in the correct location
  • Demonstrate basic food-safety practices

Qualifications:

 

Required

  • Strong communication skills, including fluency in English
  • Ability to stay flexible and calm when unexpected situations arise
  • Must have a valid Missouri or Kansas Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation for local travel
  • Schedule flexibility – be willing to work weekday hours during evenings and/or lunch hours
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to squat, get in and out of a truck bed, lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred

  • Experience working in environments that are multi-cultural and multi-lingual
  • Experience with agriculture, gardening, or a related field
Time Commitment:
6-10 hours per month
