At Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, our volunteers help us provide essential services to those in need in our community. Camille Pickhinke, Director of Community Engagement, said, “Volunteers are the lifeblood of Catholic Charities. They are the hands of Jesus to our neighbors in need every day.”

Volunteering is one way in which we equip and empower those who join us in our mission to live out the Gospel and allow them the opportunity to put the two great commandments of loving God and loving thy neighbor into practice. Our volunteers put love into action each day that they serve with us and help impact our neighbors in need.

Parishes, schools, organizations, families, and individuals can find plenty of opportunities to give back to our community. At Catholic Charities, we have 20+ programs, which means that the volunteer opportunities are endless. Volunteers serve with us by sorting food at our Hope Distribution Center, sorting clothing at our TurnStyles Thrift Stores, and making hygiene kits to distribute to those in need in our community.

Individuals who can give time consistently serve at our food pantries, TurnStyles, Refugee Program, Grocery Store Rescue, and Resource Bus Program. Regardless of frequency, our volunteers help us continue to help us serve our communities and help those in need.

“We are so grateful for those who choose to join us in our mission and give back to their neighbors in need at Catholic Charities. There are not enough words to express our deep gratitude,”said Camille.
