This last fiscal year, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas served 53,000 of the most vulnerable children, women and men in our communities by offering help, hope and hospitality through one or more of our 30+ programs. The generosity of donors like you allows us to continue our mission of providing help, hope and hospitality.

Angela's Hope Story
Angela came to one of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas’ Family Support Centers seeking rental assistance. This young woman, who had a newborn son, had just started living on her own. Like any new parent, she wanted to provide for her baby, but felt alone and overwhelmed.
A case manager met with her and discovered that Angela had been unemployed since giving birth. She was struggling to pay monthly living expenses while trying to figure out a job and childcare. Catholic Charities provided some immediate relief by paying the current and next months’ rent. This allowed more time for Angela to seek employment. Her case manager helped her create an action plan that included Angela re-connecting with her former employer about a job. In addition, she learned about funding for child-care available through the state; a partner program that provides baby diapers; and was introduced to our food pantry.
Angela was filled with emotion over the amount of help and hospitality she received. Without Catholic Charities, she would have been evicted and living on the streets with her baby. Today, she has hope as she continues to work towards greater stability for her family.
Featured Stained Glass
The exquisitely intricate stained glass window found at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Kansas City, Kansas, is featured on our Christmas card this year. The depiction of the Holy Family is one of great love and faithfulness. The image stands out among the church’s other decor. Ornate details are displayed throughout the entire Cathedral, including on church relics and the copper bell tower. The Cathedral’s Gothic Revival architecture is easily identifiable with the elaborately-designed building exterior and pointed arch.
Founded in 1907, with only 126 people in attendance at the first Mass, the century-old Cathedral is now home to a vibrant and diverse parish community. It is also Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann’s episcopal seat. We are grateful to the Cathedral and Archbishop for their ongoing generosity and support for Catholic Charities and the vulnerable populations we serve.
