Who We Are

Founded in 1956, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas provides a wide range of programs and services to those in need in our 21 county service area. We believe in offering our neighbors in need a hand up, not a hand out by giving them the help and resources needed for long-term change.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help our neighbors who are challenged by poverty of mind, body and spirit find the open door of Catholic Charities in our communities and are met with help, hospitality and hope.

OUR MISSION

As a faith-based organization, we are inspired by God's love and compassion to provide unconditional love and necessary help to people of all faiths by stabilizing and strengthening individuals and families in need across the 21 counties of Northeast Kansas.

What We Do

Buy food or pay the rent?
Buy medicine or pay the gas bill?

Thousands of people are forced to ask these types of painful questions every day in our community. We help people in need get on their feet and maintain stability so that they don’t have to face these hard situations in the future. Our programs and services provide for individuals’ and families’ immediate needs, while also offering the tools and resources for a better tomorrow.

Our three pillars of service:

• Family Stabilization

  Assisting individuals and families with immediate needs.
  We provide everyday essentials like food, clothing and a safe place to live for people like Cassie, the mother of a 15-year-old girl, who lost her home after being laid off from her job.
  - Donate to a food pantry to provide food to hungry families and individuals.
  - Volunteer at Shalom House to serve and share dinner with a neighbor in need.
  - Visit New Roots for Refugees at a farmer's market to help support refugees as they grown fresh starts and new hope.

• Family Strengthening

  Providing support and education for families.
  We offer teen moms like Alexis transportation and daycare so that she can finish high school.
  - Become a foster grandparent to make a postive difference in a child's life.

• Healthcare

  Offering compassionate care for patients and families needing support.
  We provide an urgent home visit by a nurse to a sick, four-pound preemie infant named Teresa and diagnose what could have been deadly spinal meningitis.
  - Volunteer with Hospice to give comfort and peace.
